I am an American living in Japan, and agree with you edamames are great snack. I like mine hot, but many places here only offer them chilled. 

It&#039;s because I like you, and I see you have some Japanese style going on, I feel compelled to give you two bits advice to help you save face with Japanese friends, who most likely won&#039;t correct you.

Last bit of advice, never rest the ends of chop sticks in a bowl, especially in a bowl of rice. Place both ends of the chopsticks on the rim of the bowl, or on the table. Standing chopsticks in a bowl (rice) is only done as a last offering for the dead. While not all family&#039;s practice this old tradition, the culture honors it.
